Having the right lasers and technology is essential for successful laser tattoo removal. And truthfully, one laser isn’t right for all people. In order to successfully treat all individuals and all tattoos, a practice should have more then one laser, more then one wavelength, and more then just lasers. Let’s start with the lasers used. Each laser must be dedicated to tattoo removal. Don’t ever get treated with lasers that can supposedly do multiple things. These “jack of all trades” lasers don’t do anything well-especially tattoo removal. Tattoo removal requires very specific technology and technology focused specifically on one thing-tattoo removal! The only lasers that are successful are lasers dedicated to tattoo removal. And don’t think there is one laser that works best for everyone. A successful laser tattoo practice must have multiple lasers and multiple wavelengths. Bod Medical has it all! We have three lasers dedicated just to tattoo removal:
- Candela PicoWay
- Cynosure Picosure
- Hoya Conbio Medlite
Picosecond technology has revolutionized laser tattoo removal. Studies have demonstrated that results are significantly faster with Picosecond technology and there is significantly less side effects. Who wouldn’t want faster and safer results. Dr Bodner feels that there is no reason to treat at any facility that doesn’t have picosecond technology. But all Picosecond lasers are not created equal. Bod Medical is one of the few facilities in the world to have two different Picosecond lasers, and the two premier Gold standard Picosecond lasers. Why two? They excel at different things. Call and Dr. Bodner will explain. The Candela PicoWay has the reputation of being the best all around laser for tattoo removal. There just isn’t a better laser for tattoo removal than the Candela Picoway. And Cynosure introduced Picosecond technology with the Cynosure Picosure which is an outstanding laser and better for certain tattoos.
But there is still a role for Q-switched nanosecond technology. And some studies have found that combining Picosecond and nanosecond technologies provide the best results. Therefore, Bod Medical also has a Hoya Conbio Medlite. Medlite is widely considered the gold standard of nanosecond Q-switched lasers.
Also of great importance is what wavelengths of energy your lasers can fire at. This determines what color tattoos can be treated and what skin color/types can be safely treated. Some facilities only have one wavelength they can treat at. More advanced facilities have three. At Bod Medical we have all the major wavelengths possible including: 1064, 785, 755, 730, 640, 585, and 532. This allows us to treat all tattoo colors and all skin types from light skinned individuals to dark skinned individuals.
And finally did you know that there is new technology to make your laser tattoo treatments even faster? Recent studies have found that adding acoustic sound wave treatments to your laser tattoo treatments dramatically speeded up results! Bod Medical is one of the few laser tattoo offices in the world to have all of these technologies combined together in one location!
